Senec says LFP battery exchange ramps up, launches two new products
Leipzig-based energy storage specialist Senec has officially started the LFP exchange for its storage solutions, describing it as a mammoth project. Around 5,000 system have already been replaced since the end of July, with several hundred more being added every day.
Following reports of fires in houses in which Senec products were installed, the company decided to offer a safety upgrade to its customers whose V2.1, V3 or Home 4 systems are equipped with battery modules of a certain generation. In exchange, they are receiving the latest LFP-based battery technology, characterized by a longer service life, improved performance and greater safety, the company said.
The exchange process began as planned at the end of July and is being carried out by Senec partners. At this pace, more than half of the affected modules and systems are expected to have been replaced. The field exchange is likely to take more than a year.
According to Senec, the ordered LFP modules will be delivered by Senec to the Senec partners together with the appropriate accessories, who will then carry out the exchange. The progress of the campaign can be followed online .
“So far, the exchange is going according to plan, which has already led to a lot of positive feedback from both our Senec partners and end customers,” says Senec CSO Christian Haferkamp. The current record for one team is twelve exchanges in one day. According to Haferkamp, the LFP exchange is an important step in bringing the Senec systems up to the latest state of the art and ensuring customer satisfaction.
The company also announced on Tuesday that from the end of August, two new LFP home storage systems will be expanding the Senec product portfolio. These include the Home P4 model with storage capacities from 7.1 kWh to 17.5 kWh capacity and the Home E4 three-phase system with storage capacity of 9.2 kWh, suitable for families with small and medium-sized PV systems.
