Swedish greentech specialist Flower wants to expand in Europe
The Swedish greentech company Flower has raised €45 million euros in fresh capital and plans to use this money to expand in Europe from 2025, especially in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH).
Flower says it operates the largest battery storage portfolio in Sweden, which includes not only the storage systems themselves but also artificial intelligence-controlled optimization. Flower’s systems are intended to ensure flexibility, stability, and predictability of energy use in grids while at the same time providing operators of renewable energy plants with new and better sources of income.
Flower announced it has several projects under development in the DACH region. From 2025, the company plans to work in this region with a team of 10 project developers and local partners. One of the first sites in Germany is a 10 MW battery park in Gersheim, in Saarland, which is already at the project approval phase. Flower plans to work with Engrate to accelerate market entry and integrate trade data for Germany.
The money from its latest funding round will also be used to further develop battery storage systems and expand deeper into France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Flower has reported sales of SEK 100 million ($9.3 million) for 2023. A two- to three-fold increase has been forecast for 2024.
