ZE Energy, a Paris-based developer of photovoltaic power plants and energy storage solutions, has announced a $58 million (EUR 54 million) capital raise to support the expansion of its hybrid renewable energy projects across Europe.

Founded in 2019, ZE Energy develops, builds, and operates solar PV plants integrated with energy storage, along with offering financing to projects as well. The company says it has a current project portfolio exceeding 1 GW in solar capacity and over 400 MW in battery storage, and has plans to grow its operational and construction-ready portfolio to 900 MW of solar power and 600 MWh of storage by 2026.

Mathieu Lassagne, ZE Energy’s founder, stated the new capital will enable the company to grow over the next two years, particularly by financing its European expansion. “In an increasingly volatile solar market, ZE Energy’s model is emerging as a high-performance solution for a controlled energy transition,” said Lassagne.

The funding round was led by Amundi Energy Transition, with participation from new investor Demeter’s Climate Infrastructure Fund, as well as existing shareholders Sorégies, Marguerite, HTGF, and ZE WAY INVEST.

“We are very optimistic about infrastructure solutions combining solar and storage, which could play a key role in decarbonizing the grid,” said Matthieu Poisson, CEO of Amundi Transition Énergétique. “We look forward to supporting ZE Energy’s growth and expansion plans across Europe.”

As renewable energy integration accelerates, ZE Energy’s hybrid solar plus storage model positions the company to provide firm, dispatchable capacity to help stabilize volatile solar tariffs and support grid modernization efforts.

Projekt Vert

According to ZE Energy’s website, the company has projects both comissioned and being constructed in France and Italy. In southwestern France, its largest hybrid project is being built in the Vert commune in the Landes department, s set for 77 MW of solar generation and 14.8 MW / 33.5 MWh of battery energy storage.
