EcoFlow launches Oasis for smart residential energy management
US manufacturer Ecoflow has entered the home energy management market with the launch of Oasis. Announced this week at the CES 2025 technology show, Oasis is an AI-powered system designed to optimize energy consumption and storage in the residential market.
Oasis utilizes artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze various data streams including real-time energy usage, electricity pricing, and solar generation. Ecoflow says this constant analysis allows the system to provide homeowners with data-driven recommendations for reducing energy costs and maximizing efficiency.
That includes identifying optimal times to charge batteries based on time-of-use electricity rates, or predicting upcoming energy needs based on historical consumption patterns. It can work to adjust energy consumption as well, such as shifting appliance operation to off-peak hours or prioritizing the use of stored solar power.
The system also incorporates weather data to provide storm alerts and proactively prepare for potential power outages by adjusting energy usage and ensuring batteries are adequately charged.
AI tools
Ecoflow says Oasis also features a smart assistant to answer user questions about energy consumption and provide personalized recommendations.
The AI assistant, essentially a chatbot in the app, can handle queries in natural language, such as “How can I maximize my solar energy usage today?”
Ecoflow uses OpenAI’s large language models for handling queries, Peter Linghu, EcoFlow’s director of product strategy and development, told ESS News.
An example interaction is shown in the image below:
The move towards an AI assistant is early for the industry but is likely to be widely emulated if bots can provide real help to users.
Open ecosystem approach
Providing smarter energy management for homes, including prioritizing self-consumption, is a key use case for homeowners and a hot spot for competition in the market, as providers opt either for locked-in ecosystems or try and broaden compatibility with more products from more brands.
In this case, Ecoflow’s Oasis integrates with EcoFlow’s existing product ecosystem, including their portable power stations and whole-home backup power solutions, but also has wider compatibility. The system is compatible with third-party smart home devices that support Shelly and Matter-compatible devices, an open communication protocol.
“As the first in the portable power industry to launch a user-focused mobile app, EcoFlow now leads again by integrating AI into a comprehensive energy management system,” said Ecoflow’s Linghu.
He added, “With Oasis, we empower our customers by putting control directly in their hands, demonstrating how cutting-edge technology can revolutionize everyday energy management.”
Ocean Pro teased
EcoFlow also gave early information about Ocean Pro, a grid-tied whole-home solar battery solution similar to its European-only PowerOcean system. Ocean Pro will be fully compatible with Oasis, aiming at higher-capacity systems.
